The nursery school reinterprets the traditional Jola Compluvium vernacular to create a community-centered learning environment organized around a central play courtyard. Built with locally sourced materials such as adobe, earth bags, and thatch, the school encourages students and the community to participate in its construction, decoration, and ongoing maintenance, fostering creativity and a shared sense of ownership.

The nursery school explores the traditional Jola Compluvium vernacular as a precedent to create a form that includes a central play area, encircled by a raised walkway offering a segmented threshold into the interior.

DESIGN
The school involves the community, and its students, in the process of construction and decoration through local materials such as adobe brick, earth bags, and thatch. The students will be able to express and explore their creativity by painting on the adobe / earth bag walls. The community's involvement with the school is included in the life cycle of the materiality of the walls, where they can be part of the repainting and the maintenance of the walls.
